Membership in the Bible

Membership in the Bible

Church membership is often a heated topic of discussion within the Church, regarding whether or not that it is necessary within the local church. However, the Bible makes clear that church membership is was not only practiced within the timeline of Scripture, but it is a Biblical command in which we are supposed to follow. Practicing Christians would join a church body, in which they would meet (Acts 2:37-47), grow in faith, submit to leadership (1st Timothy 5:17), care for one another (1st Peter 5:15; Acts 20:29-30) and hold one another accountable (1st Corinthians 5:1-12). Christians are called to join a specific church family in order to walk out their faith in community.

Membership at Pleasant Hill

Membership at Pleasant Hill

Here at Pleasant Hill, we practice membership within the local church body. Our process to join is meeting with church leadership for several weeks, and after prayer and seeking God's will between the leadership and the potential members, we will invite the potential members to join the church through public declaration of membership through church service. As a church family, we believe in following the Biblical practices of meeting weekly, caring for one another and holding one another accountable as the Spirit leads.
