Our Story

1812
The Tennessee Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church was organized, based off the MEC founded by Francis Asbury.

1828 - The Revival
The Great Revival of 1828 took place in the Shoals as part of the Cypress Circuit.

1828 - The Founding
Pleasant Hill Methodist Church was founded off this revival, worshipping in a log building that doubled as a school.
1871
The Oakland Circuit was formed with Pleasant Hill Methodist Church as a founding member.
1888
The property, which our campus is still located, was deeded to the church. A framed building was placed for worship.
1949
The first church building was constructed on our current campus.
1958
Pleasant Hill became a one charge church, with Arthur Finch serving as the first official pastor of Pleasant Hill.

1968
The United Methodist Church denomination was founded, with Pleasant Hill being absorbed into it.

2001
Ground was broke on the FLC (Family Life Center).

2002
Construction on the FLC (Family Life Center) was completed and opened to the public.
2017
The Youth and Children's Building was officially built on our current campus.

2022
Pleasant Hill disaffiliated with the UMC and was renamed Pleasant Hill Church under our current pastor, Chris Weldon.
