Lent 2018

Lent is the 40 days before Easter, not including Sundays. It is a time set a part to give consideration to the 40 days Jesus spent fasting and being tested by satan in the desert before He began his ministry. Even Jesus set Himself apart for a time on several occasions to call on and be strengthen by God as an example to us that in our busy lives. We need focused time with God to live in this lost and broken world.

2-19-18

February 19th

When I was asked to write about a miracle that happened to me, I immediately thought of one.  However, it is hard to write about that miracle without mentioning others that made it possible. For as long as I can remember I have had a deep desire to be a mother.  I remember being at the babysitter’s house before I was old enough to start school holding the babies, feeding them their bottles or feeding them their baby food. That desire grew stronger the older I got. At the age of 3, I had to have a surgery on my kidneys that caused some scaring. Then as a teenager I was diagnosed with endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome. I had to have a couple of surgeries which caused even more scar tissue. The doctor told me when I was in my late 20’s that there was a big possibility that I may not be able to have any children of my own. At that time I was crushed, but I still knew in my heart that God would somehow make me a mother. A few years later, I met the man that God picked for me to spend the rest of my life with, and we were married a year later. I became a step-mother to 2 of the most amazing kids and my heart was full. But God didn’t stop there. Phillip and I decided to try to have a baby together which required another miracle to happen and reverse a vasectomy. As everyone knows, that surgery was a success. I was able to get pregnant, but my first 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriages. God put some wonderful women in my life that prayed for me and encouraged me daily, keeping me from staying in a deep depression. Multiple times a day I would read one of my favorite bible verses, Mark 24:11 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. December 24, 2010 I found out I was expecting again, and on August 5, 2011 William was born. The miracles didn’t stop there either. On September 20, 2013 we were blessed again with Harper. My heart was full again and our family was complete!
